feather duster feet?

I have just recently purchased a feather duster. It opened at first and I planted in the sand near rocks. The next day, it was still open but laying down on the sand. A peice of green worm (about 1 1/2") was laying by the tube!

She still opens!

My question is....don't feather dusters have a "foot" that adhears to a rock or the aquarium bottom.
Even if she still has feathers, will she re grow a foot?
How can they loose a section??

They aren't atteched. They can get out of their tubes and make another if they want.

How do they protect themselves if they leave their tube? She doesn't seem to be keeping her tube planted in the sand. it keeps coming out and kinda blowing around.... Should I just leave it be and see what happens?? I keep having an urge to re-plant!
