Featherduster on my hermit!!!

I had a small featherduster in my tank, and the other day I noticed it was gone--I figured my emerald crab or one of my tiny hermits ate it/destroyed it, then the other night I noticed it is attached to one of my tiny hermit crab shells!! He's cruising all around with a featherduster attached to him!!! Is this a normal occurance? It's been on him for a couple days now.......

mine did the same thing with a shell with a tube worm on it, he has since traded it in, looked crazy though

i have a snail with a feather on it, and i fragged a green shroom onto a astrea shell and in a few days a hermit was walking around in the shell
