I heard that its good to feed xenia some phytoplankton every now and again. I have this awfull growth of algae on the walls of my tank and wondered if it would be good to scrub it off, wring the sponge into a container and feed the xenias with a turkey baster?

Is that the type of phytoplankton they eat or is it totally different?

If i can feed them this I would probably shine some cheap 6000K PC on one wall for algae growth and use that wall as a culture area. lol

Xenia has a greatly reduced- almost nonexistant- ability to catch and digest food, so it probably won't do it any good. I'm sure filter feeders in your tank would enjoy it though.

They are definitely different. Some people think that Xenia are filter feeders but I disagree... They don't have compartments for digesting foods like anemones and LPS.

They love DOM though. So, nitrates and waste are good food for them.
