anyone have the magnum series koralia's???
I have 2-tunze 6100's and was thinking of replacing them with koralia's.
the 6100's and koralia 8's are close at 3000+gph and the koralia's are 14 watss versus the tunze at 45 watts max.
so if anyone has them and can compare them to tunzes it would be appreciated.
main thing I'm looking for is the flow pattern and any noise?

I currently run 2 Magnum Koralia 5s on a 58 gal SPS dominated tank and I love them. I have them running on the Hydor 2-way wavemaker so I can control there flow rates. They make an awesome surge of water travel back and forth through my tank.

They are also dead quite. The only sound they make is of the water churning and gurgling as it swirls on the surface.

I highly recommend the magnums.

Flow pattern is fairly straight forward in direction. It conical, probably starting about 6 inches wide and opening up to about a foot wide at a distance of 24 inches from the powerhead.

They are nice pumps. Lots of flow for very low power use. I couldn't see going from controllable Tunzes to the K8 though,

I am not worried about controlling them.my tunze's are maxed out anyway and with them maxed out that is 90 watts total.
the koralia's would be 28 watts total.
I am just trying to get my electric down some and still have good flow.

You would be pleased then. I've owned both. The K8 has very good flow. As far as electric bill goes, that is a pretty small change. What else do you have in the system?

actually I will save about $8 on electric and gain more adjustability with the koralia swivel mounts.
tank is a 8ft 240 gallon reef
I have a mag 12 on my skimmer 110 watts, that I am looking to change for something with less watts and
a reeflo snapper for return that is only about 98 watts and pushes about 1500 gph through my sump.
refugium and reactors are gravity fed.
3 -175 watt halides and 4-4foot t5's
its a pretty efficent system except for the tunzes.
I think I will sell the tunzes and try the koralias

Yeah, not bad at all. You have an efficient system. Good job.

I like the magnet/suction combo mount of the Koralia. Works good and is very small. Here are some side by side for size comparison:

wow thanks so much for those pictures.that helps alot.
So the flow is pretty similar with the two pumps right?
I am going to list my tunzes and get the koralias then.
thanks to everyone
