Feeding a flame hawkfish live feeder shrimp?

Is this okay? I read they love shrimp, crab and snails.

I don't see why not. I have a pair of flame hawks that eat small ghost shrimp that I catch in the lake.

How would I know what part of a lake to catch ghost shrimp in?

Not sure about your neck of the woods but down here in New Orleans I catch them by running a net through the vegitation near the shore. You might need to wait till it warms up though. You might also try small crayfish which you should be able to find in the lakes and rivers around your area. Try looking under flat stones in the shallow water. Happy hunting.
