Feeding anemones

how much do you feed your nem? I give one 2 1/2 inch silverside at a time. is that enough or shouldI do more? Ill probably feed 3 times a week if it is enough. If not ill feed more wice a week.

You feed the anemone an acceptable food that is in proportion to its size. I like to feed my S. Haddoni, H. Crispa and E. Quadricolor small pieces of shrimp. I feed my Haddoni and and Crispa bigger pieces than my RBTA because they are bigger anemones. I also leave the shell on the shrimp for nutritional purposes.

It depends on how fast you want your anemone to grow. If your attempting to have a slower growth rate of your anemone, then feed it once a week. If you want to see a faster growth rate, feeding your anemone 2-3 times a week is reasonable. Just a rule of thumb, the more you feed it, the faster it grows generally speaking.

What kind of lighting do you have also? Stronger lighting provides more light to the zooxanthellae algae that live within the tissue of the anemone therefore the anemone gets more nutrients that were left over from the zooxanthellae algae. That algae is what gives the anemone its color/pigment by the way.

Hope that helps. ;)
