Feeding Artemia nauplii

I read an article on Coral Magazine about feeding Artemia nauplii. Does someone feed Artemia nauplii for SPS?
Also, where can I buy Artemia nauplii? Is Artemia nauplii different than Brine Shrimp?

Artemia naupili is newly hatched brine shrimp. They are very tiny brine shrimp and are a lot more nutritious than their adult counterparts because of the egg yolk. You can buy them either frozen or buy the actual eggs and hatch them yourself. They are a perfect size for many sps with larger polyps.

One really fancy technique used by breeders is to to decapsulate the eggs (The shrimp sometimes have tiny pieces of their egg casing still attached and this can choke and kill baby fish). I bet the corals would take to them even better. I think you use a really dilute bleach solution to decapsulate them and then rinse the eggs and store them.

I add them 2 times a week. I do not know if they help the sps but im sure they do. I like to add all different sized foods so all of the fauna are fed in my tanks. I add 2 different plankton ,rotifers , the nauplii ,among other things. I bought this little thing here, its a simple easy setup and nothing to plug in. I also bought some eggs in bulk to add to the existing packets.

Artemia nauplii are the same as brine shrimp yes.

They have some nutrition in their yolk sack which is used up pretty quickly after hatching. Artemia naups are normally used for a process called bio-encapsulation. Think of the naups as an empty vessel which you can fill with what ever you want.

Generally people will enrich artemia naups 24-36 hours after hatching using products like super selco or algae paste. Selco stands for Self Emulsifying Liquid Concentrates and contains huge amounts of HUFAs and lots of other ingredients needed to make plankton eaters fat & healthy.

Artemia are filter feeders but there is arguments as to how much selco fills their stomachs and how much just coats them so its a good idea to give them a good rinse off before feeding them to you tank. Basically you just put a couple of drips/ltr of the selco or phyto in the artemia vessel and leave it for 12 hours whilst its eaten by the naups.
