Anyone using blood as a food source for corals and clams? If so, from which animals, any concerns with pathogens that can effect marine animals, and can it be frozen/thawed effectively or does it need to be fresh?

Isnt the supliment black powder made from blood? No I dont use the black powder, For a food source i use live phyto...cyclopseeze , brine and mysis shrimp...

The proteins and minerals found in blood are already being introduced to your aquarium by the regular feeding of meaty foodstuffs. Clams would not 'eat' this directly anyway, but absorb it. Clams only eat appropriately sized phytoplankton.

In a nutshell: blood is completely uncecessary.

Wouldn't it contain harmful amounts of iron too?

Now I'm picturing Little Shop of Horrors with a giant clam saying "Feeeeeed meeeee!" :)
