Feeding BTA

Hi guys,

I'm about to feed my BTA some krill. I got frozen hikari brand krill that has some vitamins and such added to it. I was just wondering, should I feed the small piece of krill with the shell or without?

Thanks!

I don't think brine shrimp would be very beneficial to much of anything.

The anenome will get food in the tank, especially if it has a clown. Target feeding an anenome is not advisable if it is a photosynthetic anenome.

Agree with flamron on the brine shrimp, not much of anything but a filler.

Depending on size, something from a half raw shrimp or small silversides to a full piece.

I feed our RBTA's and GBTA's mush, raw shrimp, scallops, tried octopus liked it, all soaked in Selcon. Both split many times before the tear down.

I feed my RBTA's krill quite a bit. You can lave the shell on if you want, I tried removing them before but it seemed to be a lot of work. The RBTA's don't seem to mind it any.
Never "target" fed an RBTA brine shrimp before, doesn't seem like it would serve any benefit to an RBTA, particularly if it's a pretty large one...

+1 on the krill. I currently have two bta's, and they both enjoy a full piece of krill maybe 2-3 times a week. I don't have a set schedule, so they may go 4 or 5 days without feeding. They are both on the same rock, the one in the front is about 10" when fully expanded. The one on the back is a clone from the front one and is about 6" when fully expanded.

I think feeding is essential for prolonged success. Not feeding them will probably "get them by" - but I'm not in this hobby to get by. I want things to flourish and outgrow my tank so I can give back to this wonderful hobby.

Feed them krill - half a krill if they are smaller, 2 or 3 times a week and I think you will find success in keeping these beautiful creatures, as long as you keep your water pristine.

I feed mine prime reef. It holds together long enough for them to eat it.

Dont always depend on your clowns to feed your anemones. Some do, some dont. Mine are pigs & will steal food from their nems, even though I feed them first.

I feed mine fresh shrimp, scallops, silversides (a chunk or two the size of my fingernail) once or twice a week.

I used to feed my RBTA's Prime Reef, but they did something to that stuff and it doesn't stay together anymore. If you try to thaw it in water, it basically disintegrates. I was totally bummed when they changed the formula because my 'nems absolutely loved that stuff and it was so easy to feed.
Hopefully someday they'll change it back and I can go back to using Prime Reef again.
