Feeding clam, with what?

Do you guys feed your clam, does it benefit the clams in terms of coloration and growth. What do you feed them with, I heard a lot of good stuff DT's phytoplanton, how about oyster eggs.
When is the best time to feed them, with what device?

I add DT's to my tank with clams 2-3 times per week. I usually wait about 30 minutes after my halides go out. I am not sure if it helps but it has not caused any adverse effects.
