could you put the whole cube in the cup mix it with tank water and then juss save the rest that you don't use and put it in the fridge? or will it lose it's nutrients?
only cut off what i think i'll need
sense i have only like 4 fish that eat the cube last me a good couple feedings or more. i dont think you want to do that and refreeze it.
I put some tank water in a baggie and let the frozen food break up before I put it in thr aquarium. I would not refreeze the mixture though. I think you could split it up between the two tanks without a problem.
i put a cube in a cup of tank water. let it sit for a few mins. to thaw out. stir it up to break loose the shrimps. then i just pour it in. some people will strain the shrimp with a fine net so they dont put the water back in the tank. i dont.
I take a small bowl with some tank water in it. Then I place the cube in a tiny strainer and let the cube disolve. I then slowly add the food from the strainer to the tank and make sure it is all eaten. I discard any remaining food in the strainer and the dirty water in the bowl.
There is a lot of nutrients in the water after the cube disolves. I wouldn't want to add that to my tank.
Most of the time I will put the cube in some tank water and let it desolve. But other times I will just put the cube in the tank and as it melts the fish eat it.
I purchased a brine shrimp net at the LFS and use it religiously. The water that they pack the shrimp in (or any frozen food) is quite nasty. I can cut off a large piece and by the time I have melted the ice, there is a small amount of shrimp.
