HI, I have a spotted grouper and i need some help. HE is about 4.5". I have had him for about two days and he hasn't eaten yet. I feed misys and prawn in my tank because i have a trigger and a hawk and a couple other fish. Sould i be feeding anything else for the grouper. Thanks in advance
Matt

Groupers will eat just about anything as long as it's big enough for them. My two won't touch the smaller pieces that fall off their food but the giant chunks are gone in a second.

Just give him time, and if he is small enough maybe some live ghost shrimp to get him comfy in the aquarium first then switch him over to prepared food.

Good point Wlyon,
I have a Polleni grouper and he won't touch individual mysis...but a huge gel clump of them get inhaled instantly.

I'd suggest trying some silversides broken into 1/4 - 1/2" pieces. They definitely do have their preferences, the order for my grouper seems to be:
silversides, squid, krill, clam and then mysis.

Is he showing any interest in the food?

Def. try the Silversides. I have a white-spotted Grouper and he will eat as many as I let him. He is about 7 inches and I feed him the whole fish. He wont touch anything small.

I finnaly got him to eat. I just dropped a clump of prawn in and after a couple of minutes he swam up and devoured it. i also think he ate my egineer goby. Thanks for all the help
Matt
