Feeding my fish every night!?

Ok I have to laugh - I don't want to because its horrible, but I have to. As I mentioned above, I rinse my food in a net then put it in the tank via a net. And as I jokingly stated I have to be careful because my chromis likes to swim in the net. Well I cursed myself as it happened last night.

As always, I looked at my tank beforehand, marvelling at the beauty and chuckling at how my minions follow me around like a puppy. One, two, three, four, they are all there and happy as can be. I go through my normal course of rinsing the food in a net, carefully carry it over to my tank and drop the net near a powerhead to get the food to fly through the tank. I then pull the net out, rinse it out and dry it off.

There was a difference this time however. After I go back to the tank, I don't see Ole' Blue anywhere. I think "that's weird, Ole' Blue loves food...where the heck is he?". I'm standing there stunned thinking Blue is just being weird or decided he was going to grab a big piece and go eat it in a cave. After a good minute of looking for Blue, I get real concerned. I swear he was in there just before feeding.

As I'm about to walk around the side of the tank, I decide to look down. Who's there? Ole' Blue! AHHHHHHH! I grab my boy and plop him back in the tank. Immediately he looks like he just saw a great white shark and barely escaped....he was stunned. Within 15 seconds he shook it off and began swimming around normally again. I fed the tank a second time just to make sure he was ok and well, since he missed dinner due to taking a vacation to carpet island, I figured he was hungry. Sure enough, he chowed down like Joey Chestnut.

I escaped disaster and got very lucky I didn't step on him...I guess I will be more carfeul next time.
