feeding my starfish

I have what i was told a red knobby or porous starfish. I have had him about a month and he seems to be doing fine. He is very active at night and is all over the tank and even some during the day. I was told by by someone who also has one that i should be hand feeding him a bit of raw shrimp a couple times a week by dropping some near him and he will go eat it. well i have tried this 3 times and every time i drop in shrimp he pays it no attention while the rest of the tank goes nuts for the shrimp. The clowns, yellow tang and crabs all take the shrimp and eat it. What should i do about this? every time i try and look this guy up on the web all i can find is information on the reef wrecking knobby star which is not what i have. any thought or suggestions? here are a couple of pic of him

Thanks

It's mainly the brittle stars and serpent stars the go for the shrimp. Not sure if this one is reef-safe. Doesn't look like the red knob starfish I know. It might consume corals though, and if it doesn't, then it's main diet is probably algae. Un;ess there is a large amount of algae in the tank then it will more then likely slowly starve to death.

ya, i really cant find a whole lot of info on this guy. Like said every time i search i find the other "red knobby" info. My bad for not having enough info before i got him. Ill head to the LFS and see what they can tell me. Right now i have enough algae for him in the tank.

If any one knows what this guy is and can give m more info on him that would be great!

Thankspaersfan..
