feeding pipefish

I feed my messmates by means of a diy feeding station, very easy to make. They love red plankton and cyclops.

I've found the pipe fish I have likes Hikari mysis shrimp and cyclop-eeze.
I figure I can buy a container of Tigger Pods or a container of Tisbe reef Pods every couple weeks to give it something to hunt, which it does constantly.

I personally use cyclopeeze and shaved mysis. I started with tigger pods adding a 1/3 of the container every 3 days. I have also heard of people using peppermint shrimp in their HOB refugium and having their fry supplement the feeding. Never tried it but will hopefully get it done in the next few weeks.

since pipefish have what can barely be described as a stomach, they have to eat constantly throughout the day... I would recommend looking up one of the numerous DIY feeding stations. most consist only of a air tube, a plastic container covered in mesh and a seringe to push the live brine down the tube... the brine will slowly squeeze through the mesh and be eaten by the pipefish.... HAPPY TRAILS

My pipe fish is doing fine with one feeding of mysis a day and anything he can graze on during the day.

Mine get a huge mix of food but normally daily it is frozen pods, plankton and rots throughout the day and mysis, krill mixture a couple of times during the day. I add live pods around once a week and have a feeder for baby brine as well. They get this mix as i keep several tanks and that includes some non photo stuff so have to feed anyway.

I've also found they like Tetra marine krill gel which is like a paste and one of the bluestripes has been known to eat flake (although not that often).
