Feeding the Sump

Has anyone heard about feeding the sump? I read in an UK magazine (practical fishkeeping) that it is good to drop a little food in the samp every week or so to keep the pod population up in numbers.

Do any of you do that? or advise against it?

I would assume that most of the food left over from feeding your display tank would end up in the sump thereby feeding your sump. If its just a plain sump then there would be no real need to feed it, if it contained a refugium then you might want to consider it.

Unless you really don't feed the tank much, I don't think there's much benefit to it. I wouldnt worry about it.

ok, thanks. My sump is a refugium, and I have a 200micron sock filter, so I think leftover food from the display tank wouldn't make it to the refugium.
