Feeding your Trachyphyllia

Hi everyone. I picked up a new addition to my tank yesterday and wanted to see how and what everyone feeds their Trachyphyllia. Prior to my purchase I was doing my research and only saw a few things that they will eat. I was thinking I could feed him a small piece of fresh shrimp from the grocery store as I do my anemone and acan's. Is anyone else doing this or are they just feeding Mysis shrimp, brine, and/or pellets? Also from reading around there seems to be mixed comments on how often to feed them. I have read as much as every few days to once a month. I have also read they have a very slow metabolism.

My last question to the group is outside of shutting off the pumps how are you fending off tank mates so your Trachyphyllia is able to get their meal in? I had read on a forum that someone cuts a 2 liter bottle in half and uses it as a cover and feeds through the hole on top. I like this idea because it avoids having to shut off all pumps.

I used to feed my Trachyphyllia, Plerogyra, RBTA etc a pea sized piece of shrimp from the supermarket once every 2-3 weeks or so. This wasn't really necessary being that they were receiving plenty of light, but it didn't hurt either though. To make sure the corals were able to eat and nothing was stolen I would sometimes put the top half of a 2 liter soda pop bottle over the corals for an hour or so.

Okay cool thanks! Its funny when I read about the 2 liter bottle trick I thought that was pretty cool. We spend so much $$ in this hobby on stuff and sometimes the simplest ideas do the trick.

I'm it's like most lps an doesn't need to be fed but if u really want to they usual extend their feeding tentacles at night reef roads flake really anything I've seen my snag out of the water column if u want them to eat during he day you'll prob have to train them slowly turn off the flow and give them a small squirt of w/e ur trying to feed an let it sit . I had mine for 5months great growth never fed it

I tired feeding it a few times but it really didn't seem to have any interest. Then on my way out of the house this morning I noticed its tentacles were out so I dropped a small piece of shrimp in it. It seemed like it was eating it but couldn't stick around to find out.
