My toadstool is starting to open and I was woundering if I could feed him phytoplankton? Would an emerald crab pick at the corals neck because he was hanging around the base picking at the rock or the foot of the coral? He is at the top of the aquarium and seems to be opening up okay ( he is open for most of the time and then for no reason he will contract all of his polyps) Can I anchor him down right there?

Toadstools like good light & good flow. With your lighting u should be fine with that placement. IMO, feeding phyto is not necessary with Toadstools. They benefit from zooanthynelle (sp) production via light. Basically, they are photosynthetic corals.
