Feeding

Question about feeding, I'm aiming to have a red fire shrimp., goby and shrimp pair and 2 or three other fish in my tank eventually. I'm just wondering what to feed them and how often? Do I turn off the water flow when feeding or food will be blown all over the tank? For goby and shrimp pair will they get enough as they live on the ground?

I would simply feed pellets (sinking) every other day when I was actively feeding my tank..
My goby and shrimp happily search the tank looking for food floating around on the sand,etc... and many times would recognize is feeding time simply by seeing the color of the food lid as I stood there in front opening the container..
Just a pinch or 2 should be fine for just a couple fish/shrimp.

I was using "New Life Spectrum" food..
This stuff..

i feed my shrimp every Mon - Wed - Fri and they basically know when its feeding time and coming running out, i feed them sinking pellets or some random frozen food

My fish and inverts know its food time when I shut off the pumps, everyone comes scampering out. Sinking pellets as mcgyver said works best as they can scavenge the sandbed for stray pellets.

You don't have to shut off the pumps, but it definitely helps keep the food from going into the overflow or perhaps getting sucked into a HOB filter.

Feed as much as fish will consume in few mins, if there r still food left over after few mins then its too much. If u dont want food to get blown around or sucked into overflow, get a feeding station like this which will prevent this. Works great especially if u use flake food.

I leave my pumps on while feeding; it's a little messier (some food often gets sucked down the overflow), but I think it provides important environmental enrichment. Anecdotally, I think it's helped reduce aggression and spurs feeding response. I think it's one reason I've had almost universal success getting fish to accept dried foods (like pellets or flakes) - many new inhabitants will still go after a morsel of food flying by them, even if it's not their preferred food.
