Female Percula Killed Male

So Ive had my SA Onyx Percula for a couple months now. Over the past week, I had noticed what I thought was preparation for spawning. The male was cleaning a spot by their nem, the female would chase the male back if he wondered off. Then like Thursday I noticed he wasnt eating as much, then Friday I noticed he wasnt eating, but still preping. Friday night I noticed the female grab the male and ram him into a rock, killing him. I was like WTH.....
What do you guys think?Im thinking he was sick.

prolly an accident/fluke thing.

you have had them both for a couple of months or just the female?

Sound the me like the man wasn't doing a good enough job for the lady... Looks like the picky type... and sorry for the lost...

How much of a size difference was there? I have found that clownfish seem to pair better when they are VERY different in size, I hypothesize that this removes any question of which is dominant and thus results in less aggression. Perhaps if you get another male (as small as you can find) then you will no longer have issues?

Good Luck
