few questions

OK I have had a crocea for about 5 weeks now. I would have to say it is doing absolutly excelent! It attached its foot to the rock I had placed it on (had been saveing that spot for one for some time now) within 5 min after placeing it in, it has yet to move from that exact spot. It is the most active lil thing ever, it's always opened up as far as it can stretch and everytime I come close to the tank and/or put anything between the light and it it closes up real fast but then almost as fast it opens back up. And also since I have gottin it I have noticed that its colors are getting more brilliant!!!

OK one question now is how big do these get? It's a lil over 3" as of right now.

Another question. I'm assuming that the large white 'flaps' that seem to be between the shell and the flesh is growth. Is this the correct assumption?

And lastly. Is there any special foods i need to be putting in for it? or is the lighting enuf for it? I put in a lil bit of DT's phyto every other day for everything else in the tank. Is that working for it also?

congrats on your new clam, they get about 7+" large, if by flaps you mean the white skeleton growing up between the darker old shell and the flesh then yes, that is new growth, and the best foods would be dt's

How fast do they grow? It's had a good bit of the skeleton for a while but I can't really tell if it's turning into shell or however that works.

Croceas are the slowest growing of th clams, and each clam will grow at different rates so it hard to say just how fast it will grow.if you are seeing new shell growth then that is good and i really wouldn't worry how fast it grows just that it is growing

Well i know it's growing. I was just concerned about the growth rate because I'm starting to add more and more LPS and was wondering if one thing would overgrow the area before it could grow in the area.

Oh another question. Is there anything LPS wise that should not be anywhere near it or should no LPS be near it?

i would just watch to see if anything stings it,most lps will be fine but anemone's will sting it.

i see in your sig that you have a Coral Beauty, keep a close eye on that fish they will pester a clam to death.
also you have an unknown star fish, some starfish feed on clams

I have had that Coral Beauty for almost a year and it hasn't messed with anything in any way. I actually have more trouble with my pair of clowns than with anything else i have.

As for the star fish I have no idea about it at all. It came in on a peice of rock and so far the only thing i have seen it eat up is baby feather dusters.

alrighty ive finally made it home from school.
heres a couple of pics if anyone wants to see
