Few questions...

Well I'm going/am in the process of setting up a mantis tank since reefer madness said they could get me a mantis. Anyway surging ahead with not really plan :p I have a few questions. Its a 20 high tank and I'm wondering:

How much rock do I need/want? Do mantis in general like tanks packed with rock or just a few larger pieces and some large open spaces?

What type of rock do I need/want? Do they like dense rock or lighter porous (sp?) stuff?

How much flow do I need/want? Planning a couple MJ1200's, think this is good?

I just built my mantis a little 'castle' with lots of nooks and crannys to crawl around in, she seems to like it a lot, I didn't use much rock at all.

 Just ordered myself a 35lb box of base rock from reefer rocks. So I'll see what I get...

Another question, how deep of sand beds are you guys using? 1"-2" or 6" ect.?

My mantis is only about 2.5", in a little temp 6 gallon tank.
His sandbed is about 3", although he has a big Liverock 'Castle' that he lives under as well, so he has a pretty posh burrow/house. Porous rock (like liverock) is greay, as they tunnel and excavate quite a bit. The Baron (my G. Viridis) dug upwards into the castle, and even opened up a balcony, having an opening about 5" up on the piece, which is about 8" tall.

I would add a little CC or rubble to to tank too. They like to build things with little rocks and shell pieces. I have a 3 inch CC bed in my 3g, and a 4" CC bed in my 20g (both are mantis tanks).

;) Thanks, planning on doing a silca sand sand bed so I'll maybe mix in a 20lb bag of crush coral with it. Plus there will probably be a little bit of rubble in the bottom of the box when the base rock gets here.
