Fiji or Lalo

I just got my lalo and love it. It has green, orange, pink, red coraline algae on it. I believe you'll get more life on lalo live rock from www.liveaquaria.com ..that's where i got mine. I just prefer the look but it's your choice since you 'll have to look at it..:)

More expensive?

More expensive?

I have both that I ordered from Liveaquaria.

I believe they are about the same price when you take into account that the Lalo is less dense. That is to say: a $100 pile of lalo is about the same size as a $100 pile of fiji.

I think the fiji had more life, but the Lalo had better shape and color.

If I did it again, I would do the same, an order of each.

I believe Lalo is actually of similar density as Fiji, they are from adjacent areas in the South Pacific. Generally, you want rock that is less dense over more, because this means it is more porous, and therefore more desirable (it can support more bacteria within it, the principle reason you are getting it). This is why Fiji tends to be on the pricier end compared to Florida or Tonga/Caribbean. I am not as familiar with Lalo rock, but I think it is actually a city in Guam. I don't know why it is so special, it appears from the DrsF&S site that they are promoting it for the interesting shape.

Stop using your psychobabble to get me to purchase less dense rock. Haha j/k.

So getting a mixture of both would probably look really nice. I like diversity

I dont know if this true or not but i read somewhere on here that if you mix the 2 rocks, that the fiji coraline algae will outgrow and cover the multi-color coraline on the lalo. Im not sure how true that is..what i read was on this site , maybe you can search it and see. They just said the pink/purple coraline would grow faster than the orange/green on lalo.

Good luck..!!!

the coraline algae i think can change with the type of lighting you have. i put purple rocks from my neighbors into my friend and months later they were a light green and pink
