Fiji Yellow Meltdown?

My fiji yellow leather which was growing very quickly went into a shed. After the shed it began to extend it's polyps. Then a couple of days later it began to shed again. This time the slime is eating holes in the leather. I am going to do a lugols dip when I get home but dose anyone have any suggestions as to what may have caused the meltdown.

Thank You

Ariel

incease in light and flow. My yellow loves to be right below my Koralia 3 and is about 10" below my t5 lamps. This is the same area I have my SPS and clams in. Keep an eye on Alk and pH numbers.

Thank you. It is already about 8" below the lights, but I am planning to add a koralia 4 to the tank in the next couple of days.

Yeh, just make sure not to order the 3's or 2's as they are on back order because of the recall. I have 2 3's. I just hope nothing goes wrong with them untill I get my new ones. On your tank you might see better results waiting for a couple of 2's and set them on opposite ends of your tank JMO. What type of lighting are you using.

2x55 pc lighting. I am thinking it is a bacterial infection because my coral disinfectant seems to be working a little bit already.

Gonna need more light for that yellow. If it is a bacterial infection, it was caused because the leather is weakened. S elegans needs intense lighting.

Several people who live around here have been very successful with pc lighting for fiji yellows. I suspect that I had a ph spike because I haven't been able to get a consistent reading. I will be doing a 16 gallon water change today and another on Friday. That should help as well.

Day 4 I am beginning to see polyp extension again. The brown "melt" is not gone but is disappearing slowly. A 10 minute iodine dip seems to have helped a lot.
