File fish for aiptasia

I have green and pink palys and he hasnt touched a one yet . I still the have aiptasia too . Time will tell . I really love the way he looks so im keeping him anyway , if he eats the aips or not . I see him nip at the aiptasia though . He really looked over the palys and zoas , but didnt even try to nip at them .

the only coral safe way to go is berghia nudis.

Oh yeah I meant to say , if you go berghia , MAKE SURE YOU ARE REALLY GETTING BERGHIA . (Caps added for emphasis only) The ones I got were NOT Berghia , yet they were being sold as them . The ones I got only ate hydroids (and only one or two types not common to aquaria) I found a positive ID from someone on here ( THANKS again ! ) and he sent me the filefish as a replacement . He said he was going to send a UPS code to get the nudi back , but once he found out it wasnt a berghia , he didnt send it . The nudi died within 24 hrs of recieving it probably from starvation .

I have had tremendous success with these filefish in several setups. The first purchase was of a single individual and it was added to a FOWLR tank with a severe aptasia issue (AKA my mother's 75g). This fish was and still is an awesome resident of that tank. He rid the entire system of 100+(probably close to 200) aiptasia and is feeding nicely on frozen foods. My second, and subsequently third, experience with these guys came when I purchased a single specimen for a minor outbreak in my office 210g mixed reef. This little guy was very timid. He would occasionally make an appearance at feeding time, but other than that stayed, and still does, hidden amongst the rocks. He has NEVER to my knowledge touched a single coral, or anemone!!!!, of any type (and I have it all in that tank). With aiptasia numbers rising, I went a purchased a second filefish and this guy was a workaholic! Within 48 hours the tank was totally aiptasia free. I whitnesed him hunting them amongst palys and zoas, along with sps. He did not so much as glance at any other coral. All three filefish are residing in the tanks i put them in and have been model citizens and are eating frozen and flake foods. I find their color changing abilities fascinating and think they are an all around groovy fish to have around!
