Filter question

I am setting up a 29 gallon SH tank and I need to decide on either a Aquaclear HOB or a Magunm 350 cannister for the mechanical and chemical filtration portion of the system. Just curious as to what the general opinion would be.

Thanks
Scott

just so happens that i have a 29g seahorse tank, I guess im partial because i use an aquaclear70, but it does do a good job, only thing i found was that when i used some chaeto in it the smaller pieces would break off and get into the tank and make a mess even after doing the screen in front of the outflow mod..

Cannister all the way. The ability to control your filter media is priceless. I know of quite a few keepers who swear by the Magnums.

I prefer the berlin method. If the tank is large enough, I use a sump for equipment, refugium, etc . . . If not, I just use live rock and powerheads. IMHO, this is much more natural, and keeps nitrate in the live rock which is one of the places it needs to move to to be broken down. If I need chemical filtration, I drop in an internal filter temporarily.
