Fin Rot QT Tank Size

I have a Magnificent (Metallic) Foxface I have had for a few years that has developed fin rot on his tail fins. He is good sized... 6-7 inches long now. I plan on treating him with Maracyn (2 I believe). Thanks to this forum for helping me ID the disease and treatment, by the way!

My issue is this: I have a 10g available, but I really think it is too small for this guy, and was thinking 30g range. I'd just buy one, but I don't have a lot of room left, so I am looking to borrow one locally. In the process, I got an opinion that my 10g might be OK for this.

Opinions?

As a side question: The treatment instructions are 5 days... how long should I plan to keep him locked up?

Thanks!

Bacterial infections usually get started because of some sort of wound. Parasites cause wounds. If the fish has ich then getting it under control may help the fish to heal itself. If you use Maracyn-Two then go double strength for 7 days, maybe more. You can change some water before adding the next dose each day.
