I have a royal gramma and a small ocellaris clown that I bought about 1 month ago. They have been in a previously cycled 29 gal QT since then undergoing prophylactic cupramine treatment (Cu levels have been 0.5~0.55) Both have been eating mysis shrimp and some pellet food. The Gramma has been very shy and hides under the PVC pipe I have in the tank most of the time, but comes out to swim occasionally and will come out to eat.
About 4-5 days ago, I noticed the gramma's fins to be frayed. There are no other signs of disease and no white stuff around the fins like I've seen before with fin rot, but I've also seen absolutely no signs of aggression between the two fish, either. I've watched him for the last 3-4 days and it seems to be getting worse.
Water is: 1.025, NH4 0, NO2 0.2 ppm, NO3 10-20 ppm (salifert tests)
Since it's been 4 weeks in cupramine, I've added carbon to absorb the cupramine and am doing a 30% water change today.
My original plans were to finish up 4 week of cupramine, then do a week of prazipro. Should I remove the clown and treat the fin rot with Maracyn, continue to observe or do something else?
