fin rot?

tomato clown is healthy. i've had him for a month, but yesterday noticed one small slit like piece missing from tail. but today there's white around it, and i just saw another similar slit on his pectoral fin with white around it. is this an early case of fin rot?

Not common IME but it sure does sound like it. Any injuries I have had from nasty tank mates that look like a slit in the fin have never had white around them. I would def treat with stress zyme plus with aloe and maybe a fin rot med if its reef safe...(ive never used a fin rot med not sure if safe)....

yea thanks. it sounds more and more like fin rot. i was thinking i'll first do a water change, step up the skimmer, then if it gets worse meds. lol

Spreading is never a good thing either. I would definitely medicate.
