Lookin' good. I really like the sump. Are you going to get a longer light system? Looks a little dark on the sides in the pic. Maybe add some blue.

no, its a 30 inch fixture, it looks a little dark in the pics, but its better in person. the blubs are 24" i believe. i was going to put a MH on it, but i dont think i'll need it, its pretty bright. i have a 50/50 and a 10k daylight

i kinda like the look, but i'll get another 50/50 to see how 2 50/50's are.

yes yes.... when i planned out the light setup, i got the orbit (from my friend who owns an LFS) and thought i'd put it on the legs. but i didnt think of the over flow on the side. so today i went and bought eye hole screws, (50lb test) and set up 3 of em on the ceiling. then went to big 5 and got 25lb test line, and made 3 strings and its holding the light over the water.

is that safe? 25lb test and 50lb hook test and its 3 of them, so the orbit's wait is distributed over 3 of em.

Cool man.

Keep the water level over the baffles the way you have it. That way your acrylic wont bow for beans. And for the refugium since the water level will be high get some eggcrate so the macro doesnt float away.

Cool set up.

didnt think about that, thanks sam. i made an error i realized yesterday. the middle baffle i didnt make high enough, so i can only have like an inch to play with the water line. if it goes higher than the baffle wont work. so i dont know if i should silicone another piece to it (its dry area) so i can raise my water line, but do i have to? its fine the way it is. i'ma make an auto top off (gravity style) and put a bottle of water above it and have it drip in via IV line and regulator. so i'm not too worried about the top off. now another question... what happens when the water level drops below the beams? there is about half a gallon of water that the return will be pumping up, and the water will keep flowing right? i'm confused as to what will happen if the water drops like an inch below the baffles / beams.

The only place where you'll see water reduction is in your return area. Just top it off from there, water changes etc....

i put a piece of tape on my water line, to see how much evap during the day, half it it was down (tape was infront of the fuge in the middle of the sump). so i dunno ??

also, as u can see, i have SOOO much LR and a DSB in the fuge.... do all the rocks help for bio-filtration? and the DSB in the fuge?

Good idea on the tape. That way you can estimate how much evap. ur getting.

Yes. The fact you have so much more LR and sand down there will help out the display alot!

u think the gravity auto top off is a good idea? i dont wanna spend money that i need for school on a autotop off unit. so what i'ma do is cut out eggcrate and fit it above the sump so i can put the auto-top off bottle of water on it, also buying that 5100k 16wat usage (75watt output) bulb melev had to grow cheato in the fuge.

Why waste money on an autotopp off. I just spent close to 350$ in books man.... Just have SW mixed in those 5g container and manually do it.

Top off with salt water?
Use fresh for your top off bro...and automated top off RULES!

Oops yea. Meant FW. I rarely top off since I find myself doing water changes every 5 days. Got mixed up there...
