finally got my dwarf lion to eat frozen food!!!!

i fed my fish and there was a piece of krill floating around. i tried to pick up the krill and have it float his way, not much of a surprise it didn't work. a few hours later i see the same piece of krill and i wanted to remove it since it wasn't eaten. i got my turkey baster to suck it out and i noticed the lion moving toward it. i just lightly squeezed the baster so the krill moved. he came up to it stared at it for a few seconds and he took the krill!!! i know this isn't that big of a deal to most but this is the first dwarf i was able to eat frozen food and its nice knowing i wont have to buy ghost shrimp any more.

I think it is a big deal congratz. The money you are saving on food is more than a good reason to celebrate.

That's great! I wish I could put one in when I set the tank up but I will have a bunch of smaller fish in there. I will definitely be nice not to have to keep running to the store for feeders.

Yes it will be nice not to get feeders but I will miss watching the fish going nuts for the feeders

Did you forget twice Paul? I think all that dust in your house is making you lose your mind.

As for the frozen, congrats Roland. I used to have lions that would always eat frozen krill and silversides, and it was so nice. I'd still make sure to give them live food sometimes too though, as it seems to be a little better for them nutritionally in my experience. My mom actually has a Volitan lion that's been eating frozen for quite a while now, but I remember her having to buy ghosties all the time for him too.

I still buy ghosties and feeder guppies or goldfish every other week or so. I think the hunt is stimulating for him, and like vr697getta, I kinda enjoy watching his excitement when I put them in the tank. I am actually breeding guppies in my sump that have gone over the overflow.
