Finally have my 180 up and running! 4 long months and now the tank finally assembled and full! One leaky bulkhead. Elbow threads into the bulkhead on the o'flow slowwlllyyy dripping . Any advice on sealing? Disassembly is not an option. Debating silicone or harvey plumbers epoxy? Will post pics soon..

Thanks to all for your helpful advice during the assembly! I am sure I will be needing more as the real work is just starting. :headwally:

180 gallon
75 gallon sump (in basement)
Glass holes dart o'flow
SRO 3000 int
coralife 1100P
Light- too embarrassed to say..LOL

Welcome!
For your leak, we used Rectorseal T Plus 2 with good results.
Should be able to get it at your local box store in the plumbing section, where they have the PVC glue.

Congrats!!! Always fun to get a project towards completion!

... on the leak, I have no idea. I know it's hindsight... but always water test BEFORE install! I use too much teflon tape, JUST to be sure.

Just thinking out loud;
How about cutting out the plumbing down stream, putting in a union (for ease of reassembly) and fix the leak? If it's not an option, due to the overflow always overflowing... no way to turn off the supply pumps and repair?! It's a new install... do it now, and do it right while you have the chance.

... I just took apart a 240, that had white silicone ALL OVER the large bulkhead (1 of 2 overflows) and it made a mess for me to remove and reassemble. What a PITA.

AND, when I was putting in my return line bulkheads... I was screwing in a threaded return 90° to have it BREAK the bulkhead! *snap* ... and oh boy was I ****ed. Thank goodness I had another on hand, but I know it was due to too much teflon tape bulking it up and me trying one more half turn (to get the orientation just right). Oooh boy... count to 10!

Good luck!! Leaks SUCK!

Thanks all. I will look for the rectorseal. I will have pics up tomorrow I hope.

In hindsight I will never use threaded bulkheads again. In a sense filling the tank was my leak test. 180 gallon not very mobile. I would have to drain it, cut the pipes, fix the plumbing then try again. If I can get a sealant to work I am more than willing to discard the bulkheads if I ever disassemble. 2" drain pipes so can't get a union in without pulling tank too far from the wall. Of course the only leak is at the overflow in the center of the tank! LOL..

Thanks again!
