background-okay this thread will prolly be alot of talk for awhile well i still get all my equipment that i want but i will post pics as i build. so in the past few years ive been moving around alot and havnt been able to have a real reef tank in awhile but im all settled in now and it time to build! when i first got my new apartment i immediatally set up and old 10gallon rimless i had with a 15gal sump, i was just gonna do a pair of clowns and some lps but now that my hands are wet agin that just wont cut it, so the new plan is this, ive been letting the tank cycle for a month now and it will continue to do so until i have everything i need for the new tank
New tank- so i was gonna go with a mr aqua cube but came up with an idea i like better, i always liked shallow tanks but to have one built is outta my price range right now so i was looking at the mr aqua 33.6 gallons 25x18x18 i didnt like that they were so tall tho so what im gonna do is put in a false bottom,,,using high density stryo foam with a piece of acrylic siliconed over top of it i will shorten the tank 4 inches and then a 2 inch layer of sand over top of the acrylic, the stand will have removable skins that will came above the frame overlapping the tank therefor hiding the false bottom(i hope you can invision it the way i have) this should make the tank look only about 12 or so inches tall
equipment-i already have a cpr overflow box a currnet skimmer and heater and return pump i will be using, i ll be building a new 10 gallon sump with a ats and a 2.5gal ato im going to try my hand at leds with 3 par 38 lamps
livestock- i want alot of small gobies but mostly small inverts like bumblee bee shrimp sexy shrimp and other commensial shrimp acro crabs,,everything under 2 inches i want to have to really stare at the tank to see things
so tank should be ordered this week then when it comes in i ll start build on tank bottom sump and stand, but for now any comments concerens critiques or questions are welcome as i am excited about this build and dont want to overlook anything, thanks everyone,,,D
