they are from a restricted area that only allows very limited collecting

Well their parents did, the clowns On DD are aquacultured, only one person on the planet is breeding them.

Wait im confused, are we talking about gem tangs? where did the clows come into play or was that just a typo. It f it is a typo that a lucky SOB who has a viable pair of breeding Gem tangs!!!

no the clowns, the gem tangs aren't restricted but very rarely imported to the west, not sure if it's based on a high death rate through shipping or what may be the reason

It's a good deal for the fish. It's the shipping that's the killer. :D

Thats the funniest comment yet!

My problem with paying that much is that I would hate it if it die on me and that can happen to the best of us. I actually had a beautiful purple tang (nothing as expensive as the Gem) that committed suicide on me after about 2 years. I was devastated. Nothing I could have done except to cover my tank, something I have never done. I chalk it up to bad luck. Now, can you imagine if that was the Gem I had owned instead? It would have been the Gem committing suicide and then shortly after that it would have been me! I have a $200 limit on any fish purchase but that’s just me.

Sweet - I could put two of those in my 5 gallon nano.

Don't worry though - I have a really good skimmer, a seaclown.

For that price it sgould be hand delivered by the owner of the company, who will stay for a month and monitor it.

it should at least come with a free cleaner shrimp

Well the clowns at least could be an investment, in a few years you can try your breeding them and get them to pay for themself.

Those clowns are ugly. The main allure of that gem tang seems like its just to say you have a gem tang. Powder Blues, Achilles, and Sohals are much prettier tangs, IMO. But it is what it is.
