Firefish in nano?

Just looking for experience with firefish, whether they actually jump in an uncovered tank or not. I really love the purple ones but don't want to find a dead fish on the floor and I like the look of an open tank.

They WILL jump out of a uncovered tank. I had a firefish in my 10g that HAD a glass lid with a 6" x 1" gap in back and I got home from work one day and there was a dried up firefish on my floor.

If you get one (because I agree they are cool) COVER the tank or you will be wasting your money.

I've had my purple firefish in my uncovered nano cube for over two months with no jumping incidents. I jinxed myself now :) It just hovers close to the bottom all the time.

I think the problem is that they are really timid and when scared they dart and fly out. Glad to hear yours is still ok Kennyboy, they are neat looking fish.

i had a purple firefish and he never jumped. he's was always on the bottom to middle. and only came to the top for food.

They do jump, I lost my helfrichi firefish to a jumping incident out of the uncovered 1" area in the back of my nano i had for it. And that one hurt the pocketbook, a little more expensive than the red or purple.
