First case of something...Ich or Velvet??

Ill try and be as short as possible...

Most recent addition was a Kole tang 7 weeks prior to these events. Tank is a 90g in wall reef(setup about 6 months). It is a redo of my last tank that was setup for 5 years and a seam gave out and made my living room carpet wet and salty.... Previous to that several of the fish came from another 90 at my parents, and before that my 40 breeder that started it all.

Inhabitants were...
Occelaris Clown (10.5 years old, my first fish from petco even...)
Royal Gramma (3 years old)
PJ Cardinal(4 months old)
Bangai Cardinal(4 months old)
Melanarus Wrasse(3 years old)
Kole Tang (unknown age, but had for just shy of 2 months)

I did not QT the Kole tang (the most recent addition) :headwally:

One morning the lights came on to the kole tang covered in white spots... No other fish affected. Acted normal, ate like a pig. Thought about options but had to work late. Woke up the next day to a dead Kole tang... Almost all other fish covered in what I thought looked like ich, salt looking spots. Started to setup a QT. By the time I got home from work my Bangai Cardinal was a gonner, and the PJ cardinal was looking BAD. Next morning the PJ was being "taken care of" by the CUC... The RG didnt look to be far behind. I was again forced to work late and by the time I got home was left with a clown that was still very healthy looking but COVERED in .....something? And a Melanarus wrasse that this whole time has been un affected.

The QT I started to setup started leaking so I was forced to take it down. So I picked up some medicated food (Mr G's and Spectrum Ich Shield) I know these probably are real treaments and no replacement for copper or hypo but it was feasible to do this sooner than buying another tank, getting it setup etc.

After 2 days the clown really started to look much better! By day 4 there was almost no spots left on him and I had a (false) sense of relief. My wrasse still seemed completely normal. It buried itself and woke on schedule (like a damn clock). I went to bed last night feeling decent. No lethargy, no labored breathing. Just 2 healthy looking fish.

I didnt see the tank this AM, but when I got home a bit ago I found my 10+ year old clown half eaten, the CUC finishing him off.... I am beyond upset, and now im super confused.

My wrasse (the last survivor) seems completely unbothered and ate like a pig tonight. Still no signs of spots, or anything abnormal.

Did I actually run into velvet? I was surprised to see ich kill so fast. Why hasnt whatever affected the other fish shown ANY signs on the wrasse? They were all SUPER healthy FAT specimens. I dont think stress was a real cause, and if that were true the wrasse should have been stressed as well.

Any ideas?

Im so lost and crushed I dont really know how to proceed.

Most likely velvet, ich rarely kills a previously healthy fish in first cycle. With ich the deaths happen due unending cycles that eventually lead to secondary infections. Fish with ticker slime are more resistant to ich and velvet. This is why you clown was the last to get sick. Wrasses sleep in a mucus web under the sand, so it is some what protected against the parasite that are looking for host during the night (such as ich and velvet).

I seriously doubted ich would do what I experienced...

So, bottom line now... What do I do. How should I proceed? Since the wrasse has been unaffected should I count on that continuing to be the case and whatever the parasite is will eventually die out just like running the tank fish-less?

Should I treat somehow?

The wrasse is the only survivor and he is showing no symptoms.

Again, should he just be put in QT or treated somehow whilst in QT?
