First SPS Coral

I was at the LFS over the weekend and decided I would give an SPS a go around. Wish me luck, because it's my first. It might be too early to try an SPS (tank up since June), but sooner or later you have to jump in the pool. :D

I have it under what I would consider medium flow, about half way up the tank. This picture was taken yesterday, so it opened up pretty nicely shortly after adding it to the tank.

I kept the white T5's off for the first two days and just turned them on today. I'm not sure if I should move it up in the tank or not. It's about half way. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it and leave it there if it stays looking the way that it does now.

I'm working to bring my Calcium up right now since it's a little low. The LFS had it labeled as a Pink Stylophora, but it looks more purple to me. I know it doesn't have to be fed, but would it eat the reef chili that I have?

Looks like a ORA pink stylo to me. Nice frag (encrusted plug, lots of horizontal shoots.) This stuff is a great beginner coral, it will take a month or so to acclimate and then start growing like crazy. I have the purple one, it's much darker.

Watch your ALK too. Reed up on all the chemistry articles you can, you'll get the hang of it.
