Well, I have been running a 125 g SPS tank for about 6 months and my wife and I decided to put a crocea in the mix. The clam was acquired Saturday night and everything looked good at the LFS, at least I thought it did. I was closed up on the way home. I did a 2 hour drip acclimation and it went into the tank with the actinics on before lights out. I initially put it in the sandbed, moved it midway up onto a light this morning.
Here is my concern, when I moved it, the mantle retracted, but the shell did not. All day I have been monitoring it, and it still responds to shadows over it, but it will still not move to close its shell. My instincts tell me this is not good. Also, its intake hole has been wide open all day, which I didn't think it was suppose to be that wide, but is this its way of getting acclimated to the new tank. Finally, it has attached to the rock since this morning, because I touched the shell while feeding my GBTA, which I would assume is good.
Here are some pictures and tank parameters. Any feedback or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
lights: T-5 (4x actinics, 2x 10,000 K, and 2x 6500K)
SG: 1.025
pH: 8.3
dKH: 8
Ca: 500
ammon: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
