First wall hammer

Hi bought my first wall hammer frag today and it looked healthy in the shop. When I got it I notice when it resided in the is no flesh around the edges of the skeleton, it's opened up nicely. And the polyps look healthy but just worked about the lack of flesh around the skeleton. It looks like there was some but it's come away. Will it grow back?

I've lost my first wall hammer when I was doing dipping in revive. I was a little rough with it, using a toothbrush to brush off some tiny white snails on the wall skeleton. In the process I must have damaged the coral tissue (noob mistake) and the whole thing melted away and turned to mush and died in a week.

That sucks. I'm having such a hard time for my frog and hammer corals. I just can't seem to get the right light and flow combination.
