i added some fish to my tank and noticed that my new purple tangs had a more darker purple and brighter tail than my old ones. and also my new sohal has so much more color to him than my old sohal. (all the fish are in the same tank.) and i noticed that some of my fish look a little paler than they should. what is wrong with them.

Color loss/fade can be a symptom of captive life. Newly imported fish have not yet suffered long term confinement/dietary deficiencies/ etc that contribute to these problems. Sometimes a change or addition to a fishes diet can help so evaluate what you are feeding and see if something is lacking. Also make sure water parameters are up to par.

brine shrimp is not at all nutritious unless it is enriched. try ocean nutrition cubes, gutloaded ghost shrimp, nori, etc.

what are you feeding now, and what are your water quality parameters?

i agree that diet will probably be the main issue. interested in seeing what you feed. ocean nutrition foods have done wonders for the coloration of my fish. brine is a bad idea in general, unless you are trying to get a very picky fish to eat i wouldnt use it and even then there are other foods. not only is brine not a nutritious food, the enviroments that they are kept in are vile and infested with disease and bacteria. i am covinced that a total tank wipe out was caused by feeding brine when i first started this hobby.
