fish compatability

Hello, i currently have a tomato clown, a midas blenny, a pepperment shrimp and brittlestar,

i was thinking about adding 2 more fish to my tank. it is a 37gal with 30lbs of live rock, good tank parameters, 78-80degrees, id like something that is reef compatable.

i was thinking either getting two blue neon gobies, or two catalina gobies if i can find them locally. will these fish be ok with my current setup?

other suggestions are also welcome. thanks

The catalina gobies will not be OK in most reef tanks due to temperature. They prefer MUCH cooler temps than most reefkeepers have in their tanks. I would say lower than 72-73. You will occasionally find someone who is keeping one in their 80 degree tank but it's just a waiting game. Oh and some people are claiming better success with tank-raised specimens that are reared in warm tanks, but I have found those to be just as temp sensitive. These fish do not thrive in warm tanks, IMO.

The neon gobies are really great however. I would say that they would be fine with the fish you have. The only problem is that, on occasion, keeping two in confined quarters is supposed to cause little squabbles between them, but honestly this has not been the case in any of my tanks.

ok, thank you for the reply... i like the neon gobies, i had read along time ago that they have a very short lifespan, is this true, i only read it on one site and cant find it anymore.

any other suggestions on fish? keeping in mind my tank size, goals of reef and current inhabitants.

a side note, i will be moving in about 3-4months i would like to have a mated pair of tomato clowns including my current clown... would it be possible in the process of the move to get another tomato clown and then put them in the tank at the same time after the tank has been setup so that they are both in a fresh home? i will change the rockwork and such that the current clown might not recognize it as its tank, becuase i have read that you really should introduce them at the same time.

thanks
