Fish Eyes

Ok, I tried to search for this, but it seems "cloudy" means white.

I have a few fish, Sailfin Blenny and Black Perc. who's eyes are not cloudy but more of a "rainbow" of colour. Almost as if a sheen of oil is on the surface of the eye.

Any ideas what this may be?

It's probably normal. I have a dragon gob which has that same sheen to its eye. I've read that it's a film that helps them to see certain colors.

I also have a rabbitfish with the same thing. I read *somewhere* that it helps them see green. Since they are grazers, it makes sense.

I think all you need to make sure of is that you are not seeing evidence of flukes. But if the species of fish has "hazey" eyes, it's probably OK.

If it worsens or if other fish start getting it, then it's likely to be flukes. Prazi-Pro works great for flukes.

The thing that gets me is that I have seen clownfish with clear black eyes. So the sheen over the eyes (rainbow color) seems odd to me..
