so now i have a zebra eel two damsels and a sohal tang. i'm going to get rid of the sohal cuz it's too aggressive to any new additions. i want to replace it with another tang, not sure what one want it to have some color. i also want a wrasse and maybe a lion fish. would this be too much, would these fish do well together?

Too much is all dependant on how well your tank is currently handling the bioload. Just add slowly and keep a close eye on your chemical levels. The Lion might eat the damsels, but he'd have a hard time catching them.

I like mimic tangs. I don't like yellow tangs, but they are colorful. A great wrasse, and very colorful, is the Australian harlequin tuskfish. Some of the hogfish are also really nice and colorful. A lion would be fine, but I'd get one other than a volitan, which could get a little big for your tank. I agree with prime311, you need to have enough filtration to handle the load (though space-wise, I think you will be ok), and the damsels could be eaten by the lion. Your chances of them surviving will be better with a dwarf or medium sized species. (Note: even the dwarf lionfish can get to 7 inches or more).

something else i just thought of would be to keep my eel change the tang, maybe get a wrasse, and get a bunch of smaller fish instead of having a tank with a few few big fish make one with a bunch of small fish with two or three big fish. what do you think of that?
