Fish for my Tank

Hey Guys! My Tank has been up for 5 weeks now, I've got a cleaner shrimp and some other inverts keeping the hair algae in check, I think it is slowly receeding, but I might get some more snails.

Anyway, I was thinking about getting two clown fish for my 26g. Any thoughts about what to get? What is the difference between true and false percula?

Eventually I want to have 2 clowns, royal gramma, a goby+shrimp, plus corals. Do you guys think everyone will get along?

the false is an ocellaris clown...the false perculas are usually really bright orange with 3 white stripes, and the percula has has almost the same color orange except it has black down through the center...i have one of each in my tank i think, some people tell me i have a black false and others say its just a percula, i think its just a percula female which is bigger and darker than the males....zooqi is the man to talk about clownfish...heck, thats his hobby...lol so what kind of goby do you wanna get? there are hundreds of types...personally i would introduce the shrimps and gobies first till they find there home, then i would add the clowns after like 3 weeks or however long it takes for the bobies and shrimp to find a home this way the clowns dont get all crazy on your new fish when introducing new ones in the tank, thats my opinion, someone else will introduce the clowns first , just make sure the clowns you do get are already paired, that was my mistake i bought different clownms from different stores and my one kept killing every clown i introduced to try and pair...finally after like 5 nemos did i have a successful pair....lol...nobody told me this kinda stuff when i first started all the pets stores wanted was my money...they didnt even care...

I have MH lighting, I bought a SUNPOD from Current USA. It's 150W. I have a 26g AGA and it is 21" deep so I was worried about lighting getting to the bottom if I wanted clams.

My water parameters have been
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
Phosphate: 0
Alk: 8.0 (mid scale)
Calcium around 380

I keep the water between 78-82

I was thinking about going to the store and getting two true perculas, I think they usually have 10-20 swimming around in the same tank, would they be mated?

the best way to pick is get the biggest one and the smallest one, but the bigger one could still kill smaller one though. its a gamble.
i think dr macs has fish, if you wait i could help you pick it out

Yeah I would like that. I can wait, I didn't think about Dr. Mac selling fish too. This way if it dies I can blame you! :)

Thanks for the help

what store are you going to for the clowns? you should ask someone to go and pick you a fem, male out...dont get same sex theyll kill each other in time...u can tell with color and size usually but where abouts you live i can usually pick the difference pretty well, just whatever you do dont trusts any petstore in giving you advice, thats my worst mistake ever...all they want is your money....dont get me wrong but im sure there are a few good pet stores out there that have lots of experience and wont steer you wrong, but i dont know of any, if you walk in with 100 bucks and want to by a nasty angel fish that kills corals, im sure they would sell it to you anyways, knowing what you have in your tank.knowing the destruction it will cause....

Actually percula clownfish really have no sex. If the female dies, the male will turn into a female and the largest non-breeder will turn into a breeding male ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ even if that fish used to be a female.

yea i knew that forgot about that point but usually thats when there babies right, cuz once they find a sex they stay that way, they dont change back and forth do they? i dont see too many baby clowns in the stores up this way...there usually full grown...once in a while, but hardly ever do i see babies in tanks around here

when you have more than one the most dominate wil change from male to female and the rest will stay male. If the female is removed/dies, etc then the next dominate will change to female and so on. Once it changes to female it can not change back to male. As long as it stays male it can always change to female.
