Yeah, the shrimps might have a problem, but you can go ahead and try it, your list looks good.

I Would not put a sand sifting goby in a 40g. The shrimps wil not get along either, the pistol will kill the cleaner I would think.

Here's what I would do:
Clown goby
Tail spot goby
Cleaner shrimp
Banggai cardinals
Pearly jawfish or engineer goby
Squat lobster

Sounds good to me as well. In other words it can work... What's that old saying, "you'll never know until you try?" A lot of people have gotten married this way.

My pistol shrimp didn't hurt any shrimp but he definitely got a few scarlet hermits. Under his rock was littered and the shells lined his entrance way. The one I had was blue.

Never had a problem with pistol shrip and cleaner shrimp.

Nor I. My experience has always been with a Candycane pistol, they stay quite small.
My favorite goby/shrimp combo is the Randall's goby(orange striped) and a Candycane pistolshrimp. The Randall's goby is not a sand sifter so that will eliminate that issue as well.

My experience is with tiger pistols , I've had a few and never had a problem with cleaner shrimp.
He did Kill a harlequin shrimp, but the Harlequin and him look a lot alike ,and he did crawl right into his den.

+1, I love my firefish. They're great peaceful fish and I haven't had a single problem with it.
