Fish selection help

hey all.. I have had freshwater fish for maybe 20 years and going to start my first saltwater tank. I have normally kept very bold large fish such as Midas or Umbees. I really enjoy the totally bad attitudes that the Central American Cichlids have. I know with the bad attitude normally comes aggression but I am not going to keep a mean fish with anything that it can hurt as I do not believe in that. I have read that Undulated Triggers are one of the most aggressive fish but the ones I have seen in the pet store seem to hide alot and appear alittle shy (I know that does not mean they do not kill all other tankmates then hide in the rocks) So if you get my drift I do not care how tough the fish is but I would like something that is not at the least afraid of humans and will stand its ground.

The tank is going to be a 110 so I know that means no Queen trigger but any suggestions for an extremely bold territorial saltwater fish would be awesome.

Thanks

There are a lot of good choices. With a 110 (which I am assuming is 4 feet long and quite tall) I'd keep a really cool, outgoing eel (I like my Brazilian dragon moray) a dogface puffer (always outgoing) and one of the smaller triggers, like a picasso. These are colorful and outgoing, but won't outgrow your tank some of the other triggers.

I know what you mean about undulated triggers - they seem like they are sulking. Besides, and undulated trigger in that 110 would be lost.

I have found that many of the Rhinecanthus triggers are out and about, and plenty extroverted. Besides the picasso, there are many other good choices.

All my fish, except the zebra moray, are very outgoing and not the least bit afraid of people. They know me (the one from whom the food comes) and will follow me. The congregate on the end of the tank where I am.

In my 210, I have an emperor angel (lots of 'tude, but will get too big for your tank), blue spotted rabbitfish, dogface puffer, porcupine puffer, black tip grouper, zebra moray and Brazilian dragon moray.

I have a niger triggerfish in another tank, but consider it kind of shy. Most of my other fish are on the cryptic/shy side...

Thank you for the advice. I will continue to do some research.

the other day was the first time I saw a porcupine puffer. It was very bold and came right to the glass as if to say "Hi". I was at first thinking it may have been one of the cutest things I have ever seen (A guy saying cute doesn't sound right, but it fit) Anyhow after a few seconds it started to look alittle strangely human and I was like i dunno if I want that dude starring at me all day. Very odd feeling

Anyhow.. Thanks for the advice.

I know what you mean :). Dogface puffers have a different look - their eyes aren't as big, and aren't as far apart. So its more like a dog following you around and staring all day. LOL
