Fish spawning in tank?

Hi All,

Does anyone know if the Green Clown Goby will breed in captivity? About once a month after the lights go out in my tank I see what look to be small fish fry swimming around. I have two Green Gobies(the only pair of like fish I have in my tank). If they are breeding, what would I feed the fry to get them growing?

BTW, do you have any shrimps or hermits? Of course, not saying they're NOT little fish you're seeing, but hey, shrimps and hermits have little larvae that swim around too...

Unfortunately it is impossible to raise them in the reef tank. You need a separate breeding set up with a few planton cultures, space and a lot of time

Hi All,

Thanks for the input. I don't have any shrimp in the tank but I do have two or three hermits. Next time I see the fry swimming around I am going to try an isolate them in a separate tank & see what happens.

Hermit crab larvae typically swim with their head down, hard to mistake them for clownfish fry. Also all the ones I have seen have orange markings wich you won't see on a clownfish larvae.

Just as a side note I happen to have some that came along unintentionally with some pipefish fry I was given. They are still alive after a week in a kreisel with nothing but L strain rotifers. Interesting.
