Fish Suggestions?

Hi, All.

I have my 55 gallon up and nutrient poor stable (I run ZEOVit) and I'm looking to add some fish to it. Lookin to max out around 8-10 fish. Here's my current livestock list. What suggestions does everyone have of some nice fish that will get along? Right now all of my fish are happy and treating each other well. Here's what is currently in there:

Fireball Angel
2x Cinnamon Clowns
Royal Gramma
Yellow Watchman Goby
Snails
Pom Pom Crab
Emerald Crab
Randall's Pistol Shrimp

Let me know!
Joey

Maybe stick with what you have? If those clowns ever decide to pair up that tank will get a lot smaller in a hurry. Both that Angel and the Gramma can hold their own, but when it really boils down to it that tank has been cut into three. Those Clownfish might rule them all...

Aren't those Cinnamon clowns almost twice the size of an Ocellaris? Do the math...

Not at the moment. I got them as babies. Will take a few years for them to reach 3" and by that time I'll probably upgrade.

Those Clownfish are no joke, especially when they pair up. Some fish have a pass, others don't. Relentless harassment.... GL.

Cinnamons are a close second behind the Maroon for as aggression. They are very capable of taking over that whole tank. Also may want to be watchful of that Angel. IME, they can be jerks also.

Maybe I got lucky. Either way no one has any other suggestions aside from how much my current fish are jerks?

People can be jerks huh. Anyways, in a 55 I would stock an engineer goby, Bangaii Cardinals, Midas blenny or starry blenny, 6 line wrasse, and a flame hawkfish.

Didn't really answer your question on what to stock on top of what you currently have... I just wrote the fish I would put In a 55... Hope this helps you a little bit

it does thanks. Wouldn't a flame hawk go after the crab?

Wow, stunning combination, it sounds like the colours of your fishes are really great.

When I started saltwater keeping, I was sure I wanted colourful livestock, as I love lively colours.

Then I met my favorites fish.

It was undernourished, had debris stuck in one gill and fin rot had taken the bottom of its fins of, it didn't seem to be growing back.

I tried to save that fish (managed to remove the debris, it seemed happy for that) but it did not live long unfortunately. But I fell in love with it and now I keep a tank dedicated to a pair of clownfish pandas and a host anemone.

My personal choice with a tank like yours, would be to let the clownfishes own the territory and get a second tank and get more there :)

Clowns are very territorial and will spend more time standing guard at their safe spots if you add more. If they are free to own the tank, you will see much more playful clown socialising.

I am unsure if your clowns complete much with the goby. If they do fine, you could go for another watchman. If they disprove as they grow, it might result in sandwars tho, so perhaps that is not such a good idea anyway.

Since it looks as if you are doing good, I am sure you will keep making great choices :)

Most likely your Pom Pom and maybe the pistol shrimp but my friend houses one with a pistol and emerald crabs and he doesn't go after them. Maybe because he keeps him well fed. Are you looking for fish that are purely for aesthetics or ones that will benefit your tank in some way shape or form?

Also for another suggestion if it is possible I would try to return the cinnamon clowns and royal gamma to your LFS to get a "better suited" fish. Not trying to tell you what to do but people are right about those clowns they are vicious and personally the royal are my least favorite fish...

Hawk fish and blennies are by far my favorite type of fish. They have the best personalities.

Thanks for the suggestion. What about chromis? Anyone down for that?

Ok guys. I went to the store and this is what we came up with as options. A fairy wrasse, 3 chromis, ruby red dragon. Let me know what you guys think of these options. FYI I keep my tank well fed.

the chromis may be fine but usually pick each other off till your down to 1 left. the ruby red dragon needs live pods, some will accept frozen and pellet foods but they really need pods to survive long term IMO. a pair a cardinals would work good also and maybe a blenny.

Ok so I'm gunna settle on one PJ, one Chromis, and one Red Dragon. I'm willing to feed the tank live pods that's not an issue.

Thanks everyone for the advice!!
