FLA Ric looking washed out?

i bought two Fla rics roughly two weeks ago and the green one has been doing fine, coming along nicely, but the blue one has failed to regain its color. coming out of the bag it seemed white, with a very light blue pigment. and that has stayed the same, the flesh of the mushroom is bright pink and easy to see, but the blue is almost nonexistant. hard to see in the camera phone pic, will try to get better pics tonight

Are they on the same rock? In nature, the brighter the color is found in shallower water. Darker color is in deeper water, ergo less light. Try upping the iodine slightly. Be very careful not to overdose

they are on different rocks, i was basing my placement off of the light spectrum(figured greens are more likely to be found in shallower water for maximum sunlight, whereas blue penetrates deeper ie possibly deeper water corals, no idea if this is true. but it makes sense to me!)i was thinking of placing it completely in the shade?..i will look into iodine dosing, with only a 5 gal i am rather hesitant to dose anything.but thanks a bunch for your input!

5 gal? DO NOT dose iodine. stick it in the shade and just do your water changes. let the ric tell you if it needs more light (reaches into a cone shape) and increase light dosage GRADUALLY.

i dose marine essentials by kent into my 5g, pretty sure it has some sort of iodine in it..i have been using it for well over a year, i just dump half a cap full into the tank weekly, i am sure this is a huge overdose, but i havent seen any adverse effects...
