Flamboyant Cuttlefish?

Anyone ever keep any of these guys? I'm aware of their needs. Was just looking for someone who May have some experience. Was thinking of setting up a small dedicated tank for a few of them

Cuttlefish are awesome! I heard some species have very short lifespans so that would be the downside but very interested in your quest to keeping them! I think there are vendors who sell eggs so maybe that's one way to extend your experience!

Yea I’ve learned that the only real way to extend their life is to provide them with cooler tank temps. The colder the better. But in any case they are the same as octopus for our systems. Maybe slightly longer. 1-2 years max. The eggs would be best but the hatching process is pretty extensive. Many steps to hatch healthy specimens

There's a maintenance company in SF, OceanTreasuresSF, that has successfully bred them several times. Maybe try reaching out, they've got a good rep, hope it helps. (I'm in no way affiliated w/ them, I just really dig cuttlefish).

I was just at the Monterey Bay aquarium last week and saw their display of cuttlefish and squid, very cool indeed. I've always loved cuttlefish, but the flamboyant is stellar in person. Flamboyants come from warmer water, so you should be fine with normal reef temps. The only downfall is the short life span, about a year on average.

I thought about adding one into my 150g DT but I’m not sure I would be able to properly keep it fed. I will reach out to OceanTreasures and see what they say! Thanks a ton!

This one was nice at the Monterey aquarium
